About Practitioner
I have a rich background in education, having served as an OG practitioner at Reach Learning Centre and BC Learning Center for Kids with Dyslexia. With extensive experience, I've dedicated hundreds of hours to supporting children in achieving their literacy and math goals.
My academic journey led me to a bachelor’s degree in Theoretical Economics. However, a personal connection emerged when my son faced challenges in learning literacy, propelling me into the field of remedial instruction.
I hold certifications in the Orton-Gillingham approach from OG Canada and the Academy of Orton-Gillingham in the United States (OGA). My training at Fraser Academy, under Karen Leopold, was complemented by further mentorship from Heather Redenbach and Corey Zylstra. I am committed to staying current by incorporating the latest research from the Science of Reading into my practice.
Beyond literacy, my interest extends to aiding students in multisensory Math. I have completed the OG math course by OG Canada as well as ASDEC under the teaching of Marilyn Zecher.
In my practice, I specialize in one-on-one teaching, conducted either in-person in my home office or online. Over the years, I've worked with students ranging from grades 1 to 7, each with unique backgrounds. My Orton-Gillingham lessons are meticulously crafted to cater to the individual academic needs of every student.
