Supporter Level

A parent, educator, administrator or other who supports the OG Canada Mandate.

  • Letter of introduction: Tell us a little about yourself and explain your motivations for joining OG Canada. Click here for a sample letter. 
  • Principles of Multi-Sensory Literacy Education Certificate.

Classroom Educator Level:

Certified Teachers who have trained to use Orton Gillingham in small group instruction.

  • Letter of introduction: Tell us a little about yourself and explain your motivations for Joining OG Canada. Click here for a sample letter. 
  • Principles of Multi-Sensory Literacy Education Certificate 
  • Classroom Educator training completion certificate. 
  • A copy of the degrees you hold. - If not available, upload a note of explanation.

Practitioner Level Applications:

Practitioners work 1:1 with children and vulnerable people. This is a responsibility we do not take lightly. Because of this, prospective Practitioners are screened extensively before receiving OG Canada accreditation. These application requirements have been crafted to ensure that only applicants with committed to maintaining high standards in their Orton Gillingham instruction and professional conduct may enter the academy.

Practitioner Associate-Interim

For those who have taken Orton Gillingham Practitioner training through an OG Canada accredited trainer and program.

Please choose the Practitioner Associate-Interim option on the application form below.

Trained Elsewhere: Stream B

Choose the Stream B option on the application form below if you have taken Orton Gillingham Practitioner training through other training providers.

The application form will ask you to select the membership level you would like to be considered for.

International Applications:

  • International Supporter and Classroom Educator applicants, should apply using the form below using the same process as a domestic applicant. 
  • Practitioner Stream A applicants should apply using the Practitioner Associate-Interim (International) option on the form below. 
  • Practitioner Stream B applicants should apply using the Practitioner Stream B application on the form below. Please make it clear in your letter of introduction that you are applying as an International member.

Notes

Abuse Prevention Training.

Per insurer requirements, all Practitioners must take annual abuse prevention training. Training is in the form of a free online course that can be taken at a time that works with your schedule. The course takes approximately 1 hour to complete. You will be asked to sign to confirm that you completed the training on application.

Probationary Period Sign Off

New practitioners must complete a supervised 30 hour probation period. The probation can take place during the first 30 hrs of your practicum. It must be signed off by a colleague, or parent. Qualified teachers are exempt from the probation requirement. Please submit proof of your qualified teacher status in lieu of the probation sign-off form.
