OG Canada 2019 - Spring Fling

Phonology to Syllabication to Morphology.

Ron Yoshimoto gave an extremely well-received presentation at the Spring Fling in April. For those who weren’t there, here are three key ideas.

When doing rapid reading, ask students to think of synonyms to words given, to build their vocabulary skills.
Another rapid reading activity is to ask students to highlight verbs (or adjectives, or nouns, etc.) as a time-efficient way to reinforce grammar structures.
When doing SOS, provide the child with a word, and then ask them to change the meaning by adding an affix, to drive home the meanings of affixes. Eg. Spell run. Now change it to make it happening now. (running)
