Executive Functions:
Understanding Deficits, Incorporating new Knowledge into Literacy and Math Instructions
on
Saturday April 15, 2023
9:30 am - 12 pm PDT (Vancouver, BC)
OG Canada invites you to join Michael McLeod on April 15, 2023, for a 2-hours workshop that will bring us to a better understanding of Executive Functions (EF).
EF are a set of cognitive processes that are necessary for organization of information and regulation of behavior. These functions include attention, inhibition, working memory, cognitive flexibility, problem solving, and others. An impairment in these functions can be a problem on its own, but EF impairment often exacerbates learning difficulties as well as obstructs attempts at remediation.
We will have two sessions with a break for lunch and networking:
First session: 9:30 am - 11.30 am
Networking: 11:30 am - 12 pm
Due to a medical emergency Dr. Petrich will not be able to attend the conference and present as scheduled. The presentation of Dr. Petrich will be recorded and shared with all registered participants in the nearest future.
Michael McLeod will focus on the unique and innovative skill of Internal Language while constructing interpersonal relationships and meaningful varied experiences for students. The evidence-based GrowNOW Model utilizes a holistic approach towards decreasing prompt dependency, fostering independence, strengthening Executive Functions, through the lens of the academic, social, and emotional methodology.
